Il est possible de calculer l'étendue approximative du texte. Une page standardisée (NS) correspond à 1800 caractères, y compris les espaces. En cas du texte imprimé, une page standardisée comprend 250 mots. Exceptionnellement, pour les textes hautement spécialisés (par exemple : physique nucléaire,...), on peut facturer un supplément.
